A New Year Starts

Updated: 6 days ago

After a couple of weeks of very slow activity at the GT, we bounced back to a fairly busy first week .

Our first task was to remove a couple of dead/dying wild cherries that had been dislodged by wind before the new year. These trees were fairly close to the road and the rotten root plate was exposed showing them to be a liability.

We had hoped to winch them back to have them angled away from the road, but it was obvious the rot was to extensive.

The weather, although officially winter, had been mild up to now. White Dead Nettle was in flower on the 3rd of Jan. .....

....and snow drops began to show.

In anticipation of the coming season we started on raised beds, of which three were created but not to be positioned until next month.

We hope to get these up and running growing veg in the future. We are also creating a larger pond in the orchard as the smaller one does little to enhance the area., again a February job.
