A New Year Winter CES

The year began pretty much as it ended...wet! Now with a cold spell coming in it was more important to keep the bird feeders clean, filled and well maintained.

Volunteers from the British Trust of Ornithology attended the Trust for our 6th session this winter, recording over 100 birds data; weight, age, sex and various biometrics to add to the national database. As we were doing this there are over 150 teams around the country carrying out an identical project.

With almost 600 birds data gathered this winter ,we, the BTO, will be able to use the information to find out how habitat loss, climate change and other factors are impacting not only birds, but other flora and fauna in our open spaces. Birds are an amazing

litmus test for nature, they show the impact humans have on nature from insect numbers to air quality.

Some of our beautiful birds encountered .
