Bird of the Week - Goldcrest

Our smallest breeder, weighing in at around 5-6g, the Goldcrest nevertheless can lay up 12 eggs in a clutch (though 6-8 is more normal), representing one and half times her bodyweight, no heavier than a pound coin!

This little bird is both resident and migratory. Often birds from the continent make there way to our shores due to weather.
