Moths and Birds

The moths and birds have been busy, which you would expect at this time of year. Bird boxes have been filled with the usual cavity nesting birds; Great Tit, Blue Tit, Nuthatch, and other wonders of nature. The camera box revealed a Great Tit, the box was usually taken up by a Tree Sparrow.

This Song Thrush nest is one of three we have noticed at the Trust. Robins, late Tawny Owls , and Blackbirds are nested and fledged.

The moth trap is a regular feature of the fine weather. Although moths can be in every moth of the year it is the late Spring and Summer where variety and species are more abundant.

The lack if rain has curtailed the growth of the wildflowers sowed over a month ago. Hopefully what survives will give a good showing. However the rabbits have nipped off our Common Twayblade flower stem.

What has been a positive is the two honey bee swarms we have collected. Not always easy to get hold of.
