Here are a selection of pics from October
Flower meadow cutting
The thickness of the sward made the cutting a lot harder than previous years, the rain delayed us and the continuing flowering of knapweed, meadow cranesbill, clovers, and others also encouraged a longer flowering season.
Below left to right. Cutleaf Cranesbill, Yarrow, Hogweed, Musk Mallow
The wild flowers sown earlier in the year also keep giving. Corn Marigolds, and Corn Flowers showing into November.
Wasps seem to be active longer than usual, again into early November. Usually the workers die over winter, the Queen and her young queens only over-winter to start their nest in Spring.
Wind fall apples provided late butterflies and again wasps, and other little beasties some sweet feeds.
Othe pics to highlight
