With spring comes life with some of the first flowers to come and go and the early birds to start their first Clutches of the year.
The Snake's-head Fritillary (Fritillaria Meleagris) is a native flower in the UK with its pink-and-purple-chequered flowers and its long slender leaves. These flowers appear during April and may, they grow in meadows in the bright sun. Classified as Vulnerable on the Vascular Plant Red Data List for Great Britain. and is mainly found in England.
Wood Anemone is a common woodland a white flower with leaves deeply lobed and it has a thin, red stem. These flowers are commonly found in ancient woodlands, and is also planted in graveyards, parks and gardens. the Wood Anemone's flowers bloom between march up until may and are well distributed through out the UK.
With spring comes natures time to bring new life to the world, with that birds will make nests for the safety from the predators to keeping sheltered for the weather. some birds build nests in a bowl shaped nest to finding it in a hole of a tree.
The picture above shows a female Blackbird (Turdus merula) or the Common Blackbird in its nest keeping its clutch worm. The Blackbird is a common bird found in the UK part of the Thrush family and is some of the first nests you can find in the year. Blackbirds will have a cup shaped nest with moss, grass, straw and small twigs, inside the Blackbird will lay 3 to 4 eggs in a clutch. The the male Blackbird, much like the name suggests has full black plumage through out its body with a bright orange bill and a orange ring around its eyes. For the female it has a more brown speckly colour with a not as bright yellow bill.
Similar to the Blackbird nests there are also Song Thrush nests, with Song Thrush nests they lined their nest with mud to make a neat cup. The Song Thrush is a well known bird in the UK for its loud Repeating song, sing in the same notes 3-4 times before changing to the next note.
The Palmate newt in the Orchard Pond, was one of 4 found whilst a group pond dipped.
