Wild Flower Update

Updated: Jul 9, 2023

Back in April we created a few areas by removing turf and sowing a mix of wildflowers. With the 6 weeks plus of no rain we were concerned that the areas may be lost. Thankfully the fruits of our labour speaks for itself.

Below - Corn Flowers were attracting the Trusts honey bees as well as Hover Flies.

Although not a great fan of Creeping Thistle, insects seem to love it. Corn Marigolds, and Ox Eye Daisy pulled in various pollinators; Small Tortoiseshell, Honey Bees, and Hover Flies.

Lesser Stitchwort drew in the various flies.

Common Spotted Orchid, and Twayblades were also on the Flower meadow in larger numbers thsn previous years.
