Wild flowers

We have been fairly busy lately with the onset of Spring. The above is an Early bumblebee on dandylion.

An area in the orchard was cleared with a turfer to eliminate the dominant grass which would suppress our wild flower seedlings.

We stripped the grass and rolled the turf to more needy areas , and in the orchard sowed Landline British wildflower seeds for bees.

The second area was on the actual flower meadow, an area of dense grass with creeping thistle.

With the area cleared we needed to rabbit fence the patch to prevent our rabbits from digging up the newly down seed/ seedlings. Once they are established we will remove the fencing. Hopefully the efforts were worth it, will keep you posted.
